SELAH, BAMBERGER RANCH PRESERVE

Selah, Bamberger Ranch Preserve is a 5,500-acre ranch in Blanco County that has been carefully restored to its native habitat. Its mission is to teach ethical land stewardship through both example and outreach.

The ranch serves as a living laboratory—hosting research, educational programs, and public engagement for landowners, scientists, and thousands of schoolchildren each year.

We began working with executive director Colleen Gardner to create an overview brochure that could serve multiple audiences at once—supporting fundraising, education, promotion, and volunteer recruitment.

That initial effort evolved into a broader communication system. We established a consistent visual and editorial approach—applying color, typography, photography, and illustration to create clarity across a wide range of materials.

A key component of this work was The Selah Dispatch, a quarterly email newsletter structured around conservation, research, education, and giving. The publication created an ongoing connection with supporters, with open rates consistently exceeding 65% and strong engagement across platforms.

This communication platform played a role in supporting more than $1 million in fundraising for the Margaret Bamberger Research and Education Center.

Our goal was to help make the work of Selah accessible and compelling—so that visitors leave with a deeper understanding of the land and a renewed sense of responsibility for it.
