BARBARA JORDAN FREEDOM FOUNDATION

Barbara Jordan’s life and work continue to serve as a model of courage, integrity, and public service.

When a group of colleagues and friends came together to consider how best to carry forward her legacy, they formed the Barbara Jordan Freedom Foundation—a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the principles she embodied.

The effort was led by William B. Hilgers, executor of her estate, along with a diverse group of public servants, educators, and community leaders.

Bill Hilgers invited us to help establish the foundation’s visual identity and articulate its mission, vision, and values. We worked closely with Barbara Langham to shape the messaging and support early fundraising efforts.

A central part of the work involved developing a visual and editorial approach grounded in historical context. We curated a collection of black-and-white photography that brings emotional weight and clarity to the foundation’s message—allowing the work to speak directly to issues of justice and civic responsibility.

Our role was to create a system that reflects the strength and clarity of Barbara Jordan’s voice—supporting the foundation’s efforts to engage, educate, and inspire meaningful action.
